Registration Form for the NFF 2021 Teen View Lab. Originally conceived to teach narrative visual storytelling, this year, Teen View’s focus will shift towards the documentary. In a modern world struggling with the concept of truth and representation, documentary film has arisen as a powerful and versatile storytelling tool. New documentary forms emerging in the past couple of years have challenged traditionally held beliefs about what constitutes a documentary and opened doors into more engaging and creative films.
Since 2000, the Nantucket Film Festival has provided free educational opportunities for Nantucket teens throughout the year. In keeping with the Nantucket Film Festival’s mission of highlighting screenwriters and storytelling, and serving as a staple of NFF’s educational initiatives for over nineteen years, Teen View on NFF focuses on empowering Nantucket teens by cultivating young filmmakers and teaching critical storytelling skills.
In 2014, Nantucket Community Television joined the Nantucket Film Festival as an educational partner for the Teen View Labs, each year conceiving a new curriculum and guiding the students through the Spring Labs and Production Week. The program encompasses writing, directing, producing, and editing Labs with a Production Program during the week of NFF, where students can participate in crews filming the NFF Signature Programs. All students will have the opportunity to present their short film projects to the island community during the Nantucket Film Festival.
This FREE media arts education program is made possible by the Nantucket Film Festival in partnership with NCTV18. Special thanks to the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club for allowing us to conduct in-person sessions in their building while practicing COVID safety rules.
