Media programming for the community, with the community.

Nantucket Community Television (NCTV) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. We’ve made it our mission to produce public-service journalism that informs, engages, entertains, and connects our island community and beyond. This is essential work, further proven during the uncharted waters of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it would not be possible without the support of viewers like you. As Peter A. Morrison, Co-President of the Nantucket Civic League has stated: “NCTV has now become an integral part of what we have on Nantucket that keeps this community going. It’s every bit as important as The Inquirer & Mirror.”

As the world continues to adapt to a new normal, NCTV evolves with it. From virtual events, fundraisers, ceremonies, live broadcasting, to Zoom webinars, training tutorials, and more; NCTV has kept, and continues to keep, the community of Nantucket engaged and connected.

We are excited to share a number of goals we have achieved this year, inclusive of growth that the community has asked for with original programming in shows like Nantucket Life, branching out with Nantucket High School Whalers sports coverage, and more.

NCTV recently executed and implemented a strategic plan for our future, clearly defining how we serve our community and setting further goals within and for the community of Nantucket. Below are some of the highlights:

NCTV continues to be the media partner for many of the island nonprofits, assisting with virtual events, fundraisers, video communication needs and more.

LUNAFEST®

NCTV successfully brought LUNAFEST® back to Nantucket. This traveling film festival advocates for women's equality around the world, showcasing films by women for women. LUNAFEST® 2022 was hosted May 28th at the Sconset Casino and featured live DJ Pete Ahern, catering by Lemon Press, a community resource room, and a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses and organizations.

Nantucket Shorts Festival

NCTV encourages all Nantucketers to pursue their love of film by hosting the Nantucket Shorts Festival. Filmmakers of all experience levels and ages are welcome to submit their 2-10 minute short film inspired by Nantucket. This year's Shorts Festival will be hosted at the Dreamland on October 9th. Submissions are due September 9th.

Studio Renovation

Our brand new Studio A allows NCTV to expand educational classes for youth and adults, while also providing further services within the community of Nantucket.

  • The new broadcast studio was completed and ready for tours in the first quarter of 2022.
  • The expansion of our education center was completed in the spring of 2022.

Details on all of these programs and achievements will follow soon.

NCTV is the only resource on the island to provide live TV broadcasts. Between Local Channel 18, YouTube NCTV18, and NCTV’s social media platforms, viewers are able to tune in, stay up to date, and remain connected.

NCTV continues to uphold a strong community tradition of independence, innovation, and collaboration. We invite you to be a part of this and thank you for your support!
