Let's bring the legend of the Island Cup to the big screen!

The Island Cup: the rivalry, the tradition, and now, the documentary.

What is the Island Cup?

The Island Cup documentary tells the story of how a high school football game has eclipsed wealth, whaling, and fame to become the center of the world for thousands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard residents each fall.

The "Island Cup" football game was born out of necessity. Teenagers from both islands may share a unique lifestyle, but that doesn’t guarantee friendship. Instead, the Island Cup has become a source of intense sibling rivalry between the two sister islands -- a battlefield to settle scores and to crown champions. The struggle for its glory has defined generations of islanders. The Island Cup provides a front-row seat, previously reserved only for players and coaches, to on-the-field action and off-the-field excitement across both islands. Viewers will experience why so many fans say that the Island Cup is worth more to them than the Super Bowl. Witness a football tradition unlike any other as NCTV's The Island Cup brings you miles out to sea to feel all the action, heart, and electricity.

We need your help!

Nantucket Community Television is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are a small PEG channel with a big story to tell. We need your help to bring it to the big screen, both on the islands and beyond. Help us reach our goal of $30,000 so we can finish production and bring this documentary, and the story of the Whalers, to the world.

Ticket sales from the documentary's premiere will benefit the Nantucket Booster Club.
